The Glory of God

by danhaire on May 6, 2012

Below is the response to a discussion board for one of my summer classes. The question was asked about God’s glory and our ministry.

Glory is what emanates from God. Since none of us can see God and live, what we see in us and around us is a display of His glory. It’s the visible majesty of God woven into the very fabric of all creation. Paul in Romans describes it in chapter 1:19-20 “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.”

God’s glory is what drives His overall purpose in this world. Ephesians 1:11-12 says “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.” God’s passionate about His own glory. Everything has been created to reflect His majesty.

For my ministry personally, God’s glory is what drives me to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world. God is most glorified through the building of Kingdom. For me this drives my missional purpose. God allows us to be used by Him to accomplish this purpose. As this happens, more and more of our neighbors locally and ethnic groups around the world come to know Jesus as Lord. All of this increases the worship of God, which in turn magnifies His glory throughout the world. The more we as Christians live our life for the glory of God, we will in turn reflect His attributes to a lost and dying world.

International Missions, Close to Home

by danhaire on December 17, 2011

Several months ago, I became aware of a missionary here in American who desperately needs financial support. His name is Josh Davis, and he is the founder of Proskuneo Ministries, where nations are brought together for the Gospel through worship. I have embedded a video from Josh that tells of his vision for over 60 different people groups in the small town of Clarkston, Ga. I will be leading a group to help Josh next year, but for now we can help by giving generously as God leads. Please visit Nations Together to help now.

Elder-Led Congregationalism

August 30, 2011

Another school year has started, and therefore another year of debate and discussion on all things church doctrine. The question was recently asked in my Systematic Theology 3 course. “What is the best form of church governance?” Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I have been struggling with this very question for the [...]

Today I started a new sermon series on the purpose of the church. I have had a heavy burden recently about this topic. Before I could begin to study what God’s Word says regarding the purpose of the church, I first needed to discover what God’s purpose is for His creation. This is what I [...]

In my Baptist Doctrine class, the question came up regarding marrying a missionary couple who stated they did not wish to have kids, thinking it would hinder their ministry. Several pastors within the SBC and at SBTS said they would not marry them. Here is my response: Being a pastor has many different roles within [...]

The Doctrine of Election

April 13, 2011

As with most systematic theology courses, you are asked to think yourself empty in ways you never thought you could. This is true at Clear Creek, as we have unpacked some of the tougher doctrines of Scripture. I was asked to write a post regarding my view of God’s election. Below, you will find my [...]

Submission and the Baptist Faith and Message

April 11, 2011

This question was asked in my Baptist Doctrine class: There has been much discussion in the Southern Baptist Convention about the Family Article in the Baptist Faith and Message. Some have taken offense at the statement that the wife should be subject to her husband. What are your thoughts on the issue and have you [...]
