Below is the response to a discussion board for one of my summer classes. The question was asked about God’s glory and our ministry.
Glory is what emanates from God. Since none of us can see God and live, what we see in us and around us is a display of His glory. It’s the visible majesty of God woven into the very fabric of all creation. Paul in Romans describes it in chapter 1:19-20 “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.”
God’s glory is what drives His overall purpose in this world. Ephesians 1:11-12 says “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.” God’s passionate about His own glory. Everything has been created to reflect His majesty.
For my ministry personally, God’s glory is what drives me to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world. God is most glorified through the building of Kingdom. For me this drives my missional purpose. God allows us to be used by Him to accomplish this purpose. As this happens, more and more of our neighbors locally and ethnic groups around the world come to know Jesus as Lord. All of this increases the worship of God, which in turn magnifies His glory throughout the world. The more we as Christians live our life for the glory of God, we will in turn reflect His attributes to a lost and dying world.
